Car Hits 6-Year-Old In Arlington Heights
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A 6-year-old boy, playing in the Arlington Heights section of the city, was hit by a vehicle just before 6 p.m. Monday.
"This is like a bat out of hell up here every day and now you see what happened," Wally Gilmore, a witness, said.
The driver of the Ford Taurus barely had time to react as the little boy darted between two cars onto Arlington Avenue near the intersection of Josephine Street.
The driver got out to help the boy who was taken to Children's Hospital by ambulance.
Although police have not said who is at fault or if speed was a factor, residents say, drivers usually don't obey the 25 mph speed limit and the posted signs aren't enough to keep the kids safe in the neighborhood.
"They need to slow down and respect our area and put some speed bumps up here," Gilmore added.
