Vandals Slash Tires, Smash Mailboxes During Spree
FORD CITY (KDKA) -- Police are looking for leads after vandals went on a spree in Armstrong County.
Kayla Grates says someone hurled a rock through the window of her family's Fairground Road home in Ford City. The vandals also slashed a dozen tires on four vehicles in her family's driveway.
"It makes me not even want to have my daughter outside in the yard to play," Grates said.
The family has already purchased a new mailbox after vandals destroyed their old one over the weekend. They initially thought it had been hit with a baseball bat.
"The neighbor boy down the road went over to get the mail and found firecracker papers all over," she said. "And so we're thinking that it was blown up."
They aren't the only family dealing with vandalism.
Four tires on a pickup truck were slashed on Spruce Lane in Worthington. On Gellner Lane in Kittanning, several families reported having damage to their mailboxes.
Similar problems were reported on Bunker Hill and Quarry Roads.
Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to call State police or Ford City police.
