Utility Truck Slams Into Penn Hills Home
PENN HILLS (KDKA) --- A Duquesne Light Company truck, also known as a winch, rolled through a yard, down a hillside, and into the side of a house adjacent to a cul-de-sac on Hazel Road in Penn Hills late Monday afternoon.
The homeowner, Charles Smith, tells KDKA- TV that he was in another room in the house watching the Pirates game, when he heard something that sounded like an explosion.
Smith went into the living room and noticed the wall was cracked and buckled. He went outside and saw the truck against the side of his home.
Smith says the driver's main concern was if anyone got hurt.
The driver cut his arm as he tried to jump back into the truck to try to stop it from rolling.
Toni Gigliotti, who was outside with her family, says it looked like the trailer broke lose. Gigliotti also says when the driver of the truck jumped out to stop the trailer to prevent it from hitting a car, the truck started to roll.
There are no major injuries to report at this time.
