UPMC Amends Lawsuit Against The City
(Pittsburgh) NewsRadio1020 KDKA - UPMC has filed an amendment complaint to the lawsuit they filed in federal court against the City of Pittsburgh.
A the statement released from Paul Wood, UPMC Vice President and Chief Communications Officer, says: "Mayor Luke Ravenstahl's unprecedented and ill-founded attack on UPMC and its tax-exempt status violated UPMC's constitutional rights to due process and equal protection under the law."
Wood joined KDKA Radio's Bill Rehkopf on the Afternoon News and says he feels the Mayor uses politics and blatant abuse of tax laws to come after them.
"He does not seem to understand that you cannot use tax laws to discriminate individuals or individual organizations," Wood said.
Rehkopf reached out to the mayor's office who would not comment at the time Wood was on air but said they may release a statement later on.
