Unseasonably warm weather will be in place through Halloween in the Pittsburgh area
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Warmer than usual temperatures are expected to be around through Halloween in the Pittsburgh area.
Any Alert Days Ahead? Maybe Halloween.
Ahead of today's warm front we are seeing temperatures significantly warmer than yesterday morning and we should see highs today hitting the mid-70s. Highs will remain in the mid to upper 70s through Halloween with us potentially seeing record setting highs on Thursday.
Star Wars isn't exactly a scary movie (Any who has watched Rogue One knows that movie with the Vader scene absolutely is a horror movie) but I have to use a Star Wars reference to talk about our rain chances over the next week. Thursday is our Obi Wan day. Our only hope for any real rain over the next week will come on Halloween day. It's been a while since we have seen decent rain here locally. Including today we have seen only 0.02" of rain over the past two weeks. For the month Our next good shot at seeing rain comes during trick-or-treat hours on Thursday night.
For the month, Pittsburgh has recorded just 1.26" of rain. That's just shy of half of our 'normal' total of rain through today for the month. We won't be getting a late month surge of moisture with only an isolated rain chance today as a warm front slides through this morning and around a fifth of an inch of rain falling on Halloween night.
Temperatures will plummet on Friday with highs just in the 50s before we see comfy weekend weather move in.
I have highs in the 60s on both Saturday and Sunday.
