Victim Struck, Dragged In Apparent Hit & Run In Penn Hills

PENN HILLS (KDKA) -- Allegheny County Police are searching for the vehicle and the driver involved in an apparent hit-and-run crash that left one person dead in Penn Hills.

The incident happened Sunday just after 9:30 p.m.

Allegheny County 911 said they received multiple calls reporting that a pedestrian and been struck and found in the 1800 block of Universal Road in Penn Hills.

Police and EMS responded to the scene and the man was pronounced dead. The identity of the man has not yet been released.

Police say it appears the man was struck near the corner of Hershey and Hamilton Roads, and then dragged by a vehicle more than 2,000 feet to the corner of Hershey and Universal Roads.

County Police Reconstruction and Homicide Detectives have opened an investigation. They closed the road for several hours while they gathered evidence and cleared the scene

No information is currently available on the vehicle that struck the man and no suspect has been identified.
