Unidentified Remains Of Flight 93 Victims To Be Buried
(SHANKSVILLE) -- On the heels of the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the families of the Flight 93 victims will face another difficult day with another solemn ceremony set to take place.
A private internment will take place today for the unidentified remains of the passengers and crew of Flight 93.
Yesterday President Obama led the list of dignitaries along with people from all over the country who came to the dedication ceremonies at the Flight 93 National Memorial.
Today, a small service will be held for the burial of three caskets containing unidentified remains of crash victims.
During this weekend's ceremonies, officials said they hope that future generations who visit the memorial will be inspired by the passengers' decision to fight terrorism.
"The passengers aboard Flight 93 charted a new course, set a new standard for American bravery," Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett told the crowd.
It's a proud day to be from Somerset," United Airlines flight attendant Doug Berkey added. "The memorial, I think, is amazing. I've seen it change and grow in the last ten years."
Today's ceremony will be held at the crash site and is not open to the public. Only family members and invited guests can attend.
