U2 Concert To Impact Commuters
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Tens of thousands of U2 fans will be heading into Heinz Field for the band's "360 Degree" Tour on Tuesday.
With so many people expected at Heinz Field on a week night, traffic and parking is expected to be a mess.
On Tuesday morning, commuters won't be able to park in the Heinz Field lots. Jimmy Sacco, director of stadium management, says the parking lots will open at 2 p.m. at the event rate of $35.
The gates will open at 5 p.m.
U2's tour has been working its way around the world and Pittsburgh is the final stop in the United States, a destination the band has looked forward to based on its last appearance here.
"The connection between the band and the audience was one of the most memorable of previous shows," Craig Evans, U2's tour director, said.
So what's next for Heinz Field?
"We go out of this. We go immediately into filming of 'Batman' on Thursday, Friday this week through Thursday or Friday of next week and then we will re-sod and we'll be ready for football on August 18th," Sacco said.
But first, Sacco hopes they sell out U2. The producers released a couple thousand additional tickets on Monday.
