Tyler Boyd Named ACC Receiver Of The Week
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - No stranger to winning awards, Pitt wide receiver Tyler Boyd has another one to add to his trophy case.
Coming off his 10-reception, 131-yard, one touchdown performance against Iowa, Boyd was named the ACC Receiver of the Week.
On Pitt's game-tying drive late in the fourth quarter, Boyd had three catches for 32 yards and scored his one touchdown.
With 10 catches on the game, Boyd moved into second all-time in Panthers history with his 184th career reception. In first place is Devin Street with 202, meaning Boyd is closing in on the program record.
According to a Pitt press release, this is the third consecutive week Pitt players were honored by the ACC. Following the Sept. 12 Akron win, junior nose tackle Tyrique Jarrett was named the Defensive Lineman of the week. Three players were honored following the season-opening YSU victory: senior outside linebacker Nicholas Grigsby (Linebacker of the Week), sophomore cornerback Avonte Maddox (Specialist of the Week) and redshirt freshman running back Qadree Ollison (Rookie of the Week).
The Panthers are off this week as they gear up for ACC play with a matchup against Virginia Tech on Oct. 3.
