Twins' Announcer Atteberry: Morneau A 'Game-On' Guy
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - Minnesota's Justin Mourneau is headed for Pittsburgh, and Twins announcer Kris Atteberry joins Troy Clardy on Sportsradio 93-7 The Fan to preview the newest Pirate.
"The Justin Morneau you're getting is a guy who loves to compete," Atteberry says. "He's a guy who found his swing in August after a terrible July. He can still pull the ball with great power. He can wear out left centerfield. He's a very, very good defensive first baseman. And you're going to see his play elevated by being in the thick of a pennant race. He's just a game-on guy."
Atteberry explains the reasons why Morneau comes to Pittsburgh on a 2-for-27 slump, and tells how the concussion Morneau suffered in 2010 has shaped his career since then.
He also shares his first thought upon hearing the trade: "I hope the Pirates win the World Series and Justin gets his ring."
