Man Arrested After Leading Police On High Speed Turnpike Chase
BEDFORD COUNTY (KDKA) -- State police took a man into custody after he led them on a high speed chase on the Pennsylvania Turnpike Friday evening.
State police say they had a felony warrant for aggravated assault for 44-year-old William Shaw of Canon, Pa., and were attempting to take him into custody at the Somerset Plaza around 7:20 p.m. Friday. Shaw drove around three state police vehicles and fled eastbound on the turnpike.
Shaw reached speeds of more than 100 mph during the chase, police say, and he passed other vehicles in both lanes and on the side of the road. The chase went on for about 49 miles before Shaw struck a state police vehicle and then exited the turnpike. He lost control of his car at the intersection of State Route 30 and the Breezewood Connector, and his car flipped over. State police then took Shaw into custody.

Shaw received treatment for injuries before being sent to the Bedford County prison on $1 million cash bail.
No state police troopers were injured, but a state police vehicle was damaged.
