Troy Polamalu Reflects On Life, Football, Junior Seau's Suicide & Samoan Culture
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) -- Joe Starkey of Seibel, Starkey and Miller on Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN sat down with Troy Polamalu and talked about everything from the turnover the roster saw this offseason, to the suicide of Junior Seau.
Troy took a trip back to American Samoa and held a football camp there this off-season, and told Joe what an experience it was for him to get back to his roots.
With OTA's recently finishing up, Troy told Joe why he chose not to forgo the optional practices like he usually does saying that the franchise saw more change this off-season than it has during his time here, and he felt it was important to be around the team and provide some consistency.
Troy talked about the importance of his family to him and how he balances his spiritual life and football career, and said if his son ever wanted to play football even with all the concussion issues, he'd be more than happy to let him play because of the life lessons it teaches you.
Given Troy's Samoan background, he told us about meeting with the Seau family after Junior Seau committed suicide, and told us about the Samoan traditions they performed and what it was like being there to comfort their family.
