Trooper Shot In Jefferson County
BROCKWAY, Pa. (KDKA/AP) - A Pennsylvania State trooper was shot and injured in a shooting in Jefferson County Thursday afternoon.
Police say two troopers were serving a warrant at a house on Cemetery Hill Road in Brockway.
When troopers knocked, a shot rang out, and the trooper was injured.
The other trooper pulled him to safety.
Police say the trooper who was injured was shot in the neck, and is in critical but stable condition.
The suspect had remained holed up in the home for hours, but there are reports that the shooter may be dead.
According to the Associated Press, the trooper was taken by medical helicopter to a hospital in Altoona.
Police and a Special Emergency Response Team remain on the scene and have the home surrounded.
Media outlets are reporting that all schools in the Brockway School District were put on lockdown just after the shooting.
Meanwhile, neighbors have been told to stay in their homes.
"We were sitting there watching TV, and all of the sudden we heard gunfire, and I looked out the window because it's behind us and I saw cops all over the place, lying on the ground. They were just everywhere," said one neighbor.
The injured trooper's name has not been released.
He said to be conscious and in stable condition.
