Trinity School Board, Superintendent To Meet
WASHINGTON, Pa. (KDKA) - The president of the Trinity Area School Board held a news conference Wednesday morning to address domestic violence allegations against the superintendent.
Over the weekend, Superintendent Paul Kasunich was charged with simple assault in a domestic dispute with his girlfriend.
Trinity School Board President Thomas Bodnovich says the board will meet next week with Kasunich about the charges.
This morning, Bodnovich held a news conference to offer a brief statement on the case. However, there's been no action on the superintendent's employment status so far.
"It's a situation that's unfortunate and regrettable and that's all I've got to say," said Bodnovich.
Meanwhile, some parents say they believe Kasunich should at least be suspended with or without pay pending the outcome of the case.
"Our school board has made some mind-boggling decisions in the last year and they can add this one to the list. I cannot believe they have not taken immediate action," said Kerrin McIlvaine, a parent. "You know, I can understand - I'm an attorney by trade, I haven't practiced in years - I know there are two sides to every story, but when you have children involved… if it was a teacher, if it was our former athletic director, there would be no question about what would be done here. They would be suspended with or without pay."
What happens next may depend on next week's meeting.
