Travis Snider Not Fazed By Possibility Of Platoon In Left Field
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Pirates Outfielder Travis Snider came into spring training this year as the likely candidate to win the starting job in left field come opening day, and it sounds like he came into spring training this year expecting an open competition.
Snider joined Starkey, Miller and Mueller on 93-7 The FAN to talk about how spring training has been going, and how he sees the left field competition playing out.
"I think any time you're in spring training and in this position, you got to understand there's guys competing to take your job," he said. "I've learned throughout that years that none of that stuff really matters at the end of the day. They got to make decisions based on how guys perform and what they think is in the best interest of the ball club."
Snider also discussed the win total thrown out by Manager Clint Hurdle last week of 95 and how that message was received in the clubhouse.
"I don't think anybody else has any other expectations other than to win," he said. "If we want to do that, we got to have that mindset."
