Top 5 Walk Up Songs The Pirates Should Be Using
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Major League Baseball players typically pick the songs they want played when they walk up to the plate.
For the Pittsburgh Pirates, they range from the pretty crazy: Tony Sanchez - Let It Go by Idina Menzel, to the more classic like Russell Martin – Come Together by The Beatles.
They may have lost three in a row... but with the Pirates above .500 heading into the all-star break.
We thought it would be fun if we picked some new walk up songs for them at this point in the season.
Here are the top 5 Walk Up Songs The Pirates Should Be Using.
5. Neil Walker: Turn Down For What – DJ Snake & Lil Jon
Second baseman, and Pittsburgh kid Neil Walker is riding an 11-game hitting streak, and has safely hit in 12-straight. The streak is the third-longest active streak in the National League. Even more, he is now the only Pirate this season to record double digit hit streaks twice.
4. Pedro Alvarez: Fancy – Iggy Azalea
You so fancy Pedro! This week Alvarez connected for his 100th home run of his big league career with a two-run shot in Wednesday night's St. Louis game. Alvarez is now the 23rd player in club history to hit 100 homers. What's more? Fifty of those 100 homers have come since the beginning of last season.
3. Gregory Polanco: Stay With Me – Sam Smith
It's been reported that the Pirates tried to get Polanco to sign a team-friendly long term deal before being called up to the big leagues. But the last that CBS Sports had heard, the team and Polanco are thought to be at a stalemate.
2. Andrew McCutchen: The Man – Aloe Blacc
Is this really even a debate? Cutch has hit 14 homers so far this year, with 10 of those coming since the beginning of June. Cutch's 14 homers are tops among National League center fielders, and 3rd in the majors. Then again, couldn't Cutch really use this song every year?
1. The Polanco, Marte, McCutchen Threesome: Happy – Pharrell
No one is more happy about the top of the batting order than the Pirates, except maybe Pirates fans. The threesome has combined to go 67-196 (.342) with 10 doubles, 5 home runs, 33 RBI, and 34 runs scored. Oh, and not to mention the Pirates have a 9-6 record with these three players at the top of the starting lineup.
