Tomlin To Address Injuries, Patriots
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin will address the media today in his weekly press conference, as New England comes to town for a 4:15 p.m. kickoff Sunday at Heinz Field.
The Patriots enter the game as the AFC's best team with a 5-1 record. The Steelers are tied with the Patriots for as many wins (5-2) and have a chance to take the top spot in the AFC with a win against New England.
With a 12-7 Baltimore loss Monday night at Jacksonville, the Steelers enter Sunday's game with a 0.5 game lead over the Ravens for first place in the AFC North. The Ravens hold the tiebreaker between the two teams because of a 35-7 win in Week 1.
Tomlin will address the Patriots and likely talk at length about the Steelers blowout 39-26 loss to the Pats on Nov. 14 of last year. New England quarterback Tom Brady was 30-of-43 passing in that game for 350 yards and three touchdowns, all to Rob Gronkowski.
A big focus of the Steelers will be figuring out how to shut down Brady and the Patriots passing attack, which ranks first in the NFL with a 350.5 yard per game average.
Also of note today will once again be the Steelers injury report. Wide receiver Hines Ward sprained his ankle at Arizona Sunday and his status should be updated today. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was seen limping after the game, so his status should be updated as well.
Other injured players that should be updated today include guard Doug Legursky; linebackers James Harrison and Jason Worilds; nose tackles Casey Hampton and Chris Hoke.
