Tomlin: Steelers Will Rally Around DeAngelo Williams At RB

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Steelers lost the game and their star running back this weekend, but a matchup with the Oakland Raiders is on the horizon.

On Sunday, the Steelers lost 16-10 to the Cincinnati Bengals. However, the bigger loss may have been Le'Veon Bell, who tore ligaments in his knee on a tackle from linebacker Vontaze Burfict.

Yesterday, the Steelers placed Bell on the injured reserve list, effectively ending his season. Ramon Foster is still upset about the hit and warned Burfict about karma.

There is no timetable for when Bell will undergo surgery. However, he is expected to meet with surgeons today and Wednesday.

Without Bell, Tomlin said the team will "rally" around DeAngelo Williams. Earlier this season, Williams filled in for Bell while he served a two-game suspension.

Williams has rushed for 310 yards and three touchdowns this season.

To fill Bell's spot on the roster, the Steelers signed Isaiah Pead, who was released by the Rams back in September.

Pead has appeared in 27 career games and has a total of 78 rushing yards and 94 receiving yards.

The news wasn't all bad for the Steelers against the Bengals as they saw their star quarterback return to the field.

However, Ben Roethlisberger threw three interceptions in his first game back since suffering a knee injury against the Rams.

He wore a brace on his knee and will continue to do so for a few weeks. under doctor's orders. He appeared on 93-7 The Fan Tuesday morning to talk about the game and how he's feeling.

"I'm pretty sore, pretty beat up, I'm not going to lie," Roethlisberger said. "I don't think it's anything worse for the wear structurally or anything like that, I think it's just bruises, typical inflammation, and pains and stuff after a physical football game. I think tomorrow it will start to feel a little bit better again."

The Steelers don't have time to feel sorry for themselves as the Oakland Raiders (4-3) come to town on Sunday.

In their last five games against Oakland, the Steelers are just 1-4.
