Tomlin Makes Roster Moves Ahead Of Matchup With Ravens
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – After a dismal loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, head coach Mike Tomlin is sending a message to his players.
During his weekly press conference Tuesday afternoon, Tomlin announced several roster moves that may come as a surprise to both fans and players.
Tomlin announced that running back Jonathan Dwyer would get the start against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. Rashard Mendenhall has been dropped to third on the depth chart being Dwyer and Isaac Redman.
At the wide receiver position, Mike Wallace is now being listed as a co-starter with Emmanuel Sanders.
The biggest question surrounding the Steelers this week is who will be the starting quarterback?
Tomlin said as of right now, Charlie Batch will be the starter. As a result, the team is implementing a plan to compliment his strengths.
Ben Roethlisberger threw the ball and is taking steps toward playing. He will be monitored throughout the week to see how he responds to workouts.
As for other injuries:
- Mike Adams will not play
- Willie Colon is looking better and could play
- Jerricho Cotchery ran and could play
- Antonio Brown will practice this week and is expected to play
- Troy Polamalu will practice with the hopes of being able to play
