Tom Cruise Thanks Pittsburgh At Rescheduled Premiere Of "Jack Reacher"
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- It wasn't the way it was initially planned, but the U.S. premiere of Tom Cruise's "Jack Reacher" film happened Wednesday at the South Side Works.
The premiere of the film shot in Pittsburgh was originally scheduled for last Saturday, but it was postponed after the mass school shooting in Connecticut.
The film is violent and begins with a scene in which a sniper shoots people.
The Wednesday-night premiere had no red carpet entrances, and Cruise took no questions from reporters.
He did, however, go to each of the 10 theaters to thank people and introduce the film.
"It's wonderful that everyone was just so warm and generous with me, and to be part of this community for that time period meant a lot to me," said Cruise.
"I hope that you're proud of how your city looks," he added. "I'm very proud of how it looks. I think it's stunning. I think it's a beautiful city. The people are amazing."
Cruise wrapped up his comments by saying: "You can't make a movie unless you have the help of the community, particularly a movie of this kind."
"Thank you all very much."
