W. Va. Toddler Burned With Cigarettes, Fed Red Hot Pepper Seeds
CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - A Clarksburg man who failed to stop his girlfriend from burning her 2-year-old daughter with cigarettes and feeding her hot red pepper seeds is headed to prison for one to three years.
Harrison Circuit Judge Thomas Bedell sentenced 53-year-old Frank Cherubino this week for child neglect resulting in injury.
Media outlets say two other felony charges and a misdemeanor were dropped in exchange for his guilty plea.
Bedell called 22-year-old Kelsey Turner's torture of her daughter the worst he's seen in 21 years on the bench.
He'd already sentenced Turner to between five and 25 years in prison on five counts of child abuse resulting in injury.
The toddler also had hemorrhaging in her right eye and bruises all over her body when authorities were called to investigate last summer.
