Tocchet On Pens: You're Never Going To Stop Them, But You Can Frustrate Them
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) -- Former Penguins RW Rich Tocchet joined The Fan Morning Show Friday to offer his thoughts on the Penguins vs. Senators second-round playoff series, which the Penguins lead 3-1 entering Game 5.
He feels it's important for the Pens to close out the series tonight, given the nature of the NHL.
"You can't give other teams life," Tocchet said. "You just don't want to go back to Ottawa. If you go back to Ottawa, you're risking injuries. Maybe a puck goes off Crosby's feet, and you break his foot because he has an extra game."
He thinks the Senators need to push the Penguins to the limit if they're going to stand a chance against them.
"When teams have had success against the Penguins, they've played the puck in the corners, they've made Crosby and Malkin play 200 feet," Tocchet said. "Quite frankly, you're never going to really stop them, but you can frustrate them."
As for the Pens' goal tending situation, Tocchet feels that Vokoun needs to keep starting until he has two bad games in a row.
