Thousands Show Up For First Night Parade
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Thousands of people lined Penn avenue New Year's Eve for the First Night parade.
It was just one of many activities, including making it a fun night for the entire family.
Giant puppets towered above the crowd, leading the way for the Highmark First Night parade.
"It's so unique, beautiful," Colleen Stearns said.
"Happy new year!" the crowd cheered.
The parade featured the work of many local artists, including young musicians.
"This is our first time... loving it," Amy Dean said.
"Tons of fun... I love it here," Breanna Dean said.
But no one loves a parade more than Pittsburgh dad.
"It's a great new year dahntahn Pittsburgh," he said. "We're happy to be here, having a good time. I'm expecting 12 foot of snow tonight. I'm gonna be sleeping down here... geez."
One thing certain- downtown Pittsburgh is a perfect place to ring in the new year.
"A great time, this is beautiful," Steve and Sandy Miller said. "We're going to bring our granddaughter next year."
