Thousands Of People Celebrate Fourth Of July In Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Thousands of people are spending the Fourth of July in Pittsburgh.

The Three Rivers Regatta was one of the main attractions this afternoon, but of course, everyone's waiting for the fireworks tonight.

July 4th is definitely a family holiday.

"We come like every year," one woman said. "We come every year to have fun and enjoy the festivities. You know, just get out and have some fun in the sun."

The sun was definitely a factor with lots of people stopping by the misting station.

"It's wet, but it keeps you cool," said one man taking advantage of the water.

Plenty of people were impressed by the sand sculpture of America's Founding Fathers.

"I think that's pretty insane. I mean, I was just looking at the detail on the scarf and stuff and I don't know how you ever do that and get it to stay together," an observer said.

Other people took in the power boat races and music at Heinz Field.

Boats have already lined up along the Mon River side of Point State Park for a prime view of the fireworks.

"This is the absolute best," George Belfiore, of Coraopolis, said. "We've been here, we've been on the Allegheny River side, we've been on the other side of the river here and this is the absolute best spot there is to watch the fireworks."

Pyrotechnico, of New Castle, will be producing the show this year which starts at 9:35 p.m.
