Thieves Steal Safe From Sharpsburg Business
SHARPSBURG (KDKA) -- Police are looking for the person who stole a 4,000-pound safe from a local business -- using a forklift and pickup truck belonging to the company.
It happened some time after 2:15 a.m. at a warehouse at Thompson Electric along Ali Street in Sharpsburg when the business owner's son left the building.
According to investigators, the burglar or burglars apparently got into the building through a broken garage door in the back of the building that had been left open.
Officials say the suspects used a forklift at the scene to load the safe into a company pickup truck -- adding that both vehicles had the keys left inside.
Aside from the pickup truck used to haul away the massive safe, the suspects got away with at least $9,000 in cash and checks that were inside the safe.
Now police have issued an all-points bulletin for the stolen truck. The vehicle is described as a 2008 white GMC pickup truck with Pennsylvania license plate: YWK-3340.
Anyone with information is urged to call police.
