The RMU Colonials Get Ready For 2010
The Robert Morris Colonials final game of last season was one they will likely never forget. The 15-seed in the NCAA Tournament, the Colonials lead 2-seed Villanova with just over a minute to go. The tournament tested Wildcats forced over time, however, and Robert Morris never regained the lead.
Despite losing their coach (Mike Rice accepted the head coaching job at Rutgers) and 3 of last year's starters, there is still plenty of excitement at RMU.
Andrew Toole, who assisted Mike Rice in taking RMU to two NCAA Tournament and a NIT appearance in the last three years, takes over as head coach. At 29 years old, Toole is the youngest head coach in Division-I men's basketball. The Robert Morris atheltic department was confident with their desicion to hire Toole, as they did so quickly and without interviewing any other canidates.
The Colonials have appeared in the last three NEC Championsip games, winning the last two, and hope to make a run for a third NEC title in a row and a place in the NCAA Tournament. To do so, players like sophomore guard Karon Abraham, who lead the team with 13.6 point-per-game, will have to keep playing at a high level.
