Bicyclist hit by vehicle on Route 8 dies
SHALER TOWNSHIP, Pa. (KDKA) -- A bicyclist who was hit by a vehicle on Route 8 early Thursday morning has died.
The crash happened near the intersection of Butler Plank Road just before 5 a.m. Shaler Township police said the crash involved a vehicle and a middle-aged man riding a bicycle.
Allegheny County police said the bicyclist was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
Police said the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and spoke to officers. The preliminary investigation shows the bicyclist was crossing the highway when he was hit, county police said.
