PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Antonio Brown reportedly wants out of Pittsburgh, and his anticipated split from the Steelers is not sitting well with many fans.
But, this morning in Wexford, fans were given an outlet to vent their frustrations over the drama and turn it into something more positive.
Fans, tired of looking at that black-and-gold Brown jersey in their closet, had the chance to dispose of it in a unique way.
"It was my son's Christmas present, but I'm donating it and going to trade it in for a new one," said Louise Bradley.
She said her son only had it in his possession for two months, but she snatched it back because "she's done."
It was a big event as 93.7 The Fan broadcasted their Morning Show from Totin's Diner.
"I think when you got a guy who clearly is not about the team, I'm not going to wear his," said Bill Battistone. "I'll probably wear someone else's who is either a legend or on the team now."
Fans dropped in, tossed their AB jerseys in a bucket and then got a discounted breakfast and a $10 gift card to Yinzers in da Burgh, a merchandise store on Penn Avenue in the Strip.
"Why burn it when you can help other Pittsburghers in need," said Brian Engel, Development Director of St. Vincent De Paul Society of Pittsburgh.
The jerseys are being donated to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, which received a $5,000 donation during the morning live broadcasts. The charity will sell the jerseys in its stores and use that money to help people in need.
"The money that is raised at our stores helps go to clothing donations, furniture donations, food vouchers, utility assistance and rent assistance," said Engel.
