Textbook Buyback Clerk Robbed Near IUP
INDIANA (KDKA) -- A woman working in a mobile textbook buyback kiosk was pepper sprayed and robbed near the IUP campus earlier this week.
It happened at the corner of Grant Street and Paper Mill Avenue.
"A guy walks up to the van, normal-like. He hands me two books and I buy them in," the clerk said. "And I'm turning around to get the money out of the till and I have the money in my hand and I turn around and he maces me from about three inches away."
The suspect took the case from inside the book van and took off. A passerby saw what happened and called 911.
Police searched the area for the suspect but could not find him.
The clerk hopes police make an arrest soon.
"I think I'm okay with it – I'm tough," she said. "I'm not going to let him scare me because then he wins and he made a bad choice and it's not going to ruin my job."
The suspect is described as a black male in his early 20's with curly hair and a goatee.
