3 More Alleged Victims Testify In Sandusky Trial
BELLEFONTE (KDKA) – The third day of testimony concluded in the child sexual abuse case of former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.
A 25-year-old man referred to in the indictment as Victim 10, who went to police once he heard about the case, testified that he was threatened by Sandusky once he refused his sexual advances.
In the basement of the Sandusky home, when he was about 11- or 12-years-old, the accuser said: "We were wrestling. He pinned me to the ground, pulled my shorts down and performed oral sex on me. He told me if I ever told anybody I'd never see my family again. Later, he apologized and said he didn't mean it and that he loved me."
The accuser acknowledged he's been in trouble because of alcohol and drugs, and spent time in prison for convictions including robbery.
He is now married, and his wife is expecting. He has not retained an attorney as other alleged victims have.
John McQueary, the father of former PSU graduate assistant Mike McQueary, testified that his son called him shortly after he allegedly saw Sandusky in a shower with a young boy.
"My wife answered the phone and said, 'John, it's Mike and there's something wrong.' He then told me he saw Coach Sandusky in the shower with a young boy. He said he was positioned behind the boy."
He advised his son to report the incident to Joe Paterno.
He testified that in a later conversation with Gary Schultz, Schultz said he had heard "noise" about Sandusky before.
But on cross examination, there was a bizarre moment when the defense attorney asked him about his testimony in Dauphin County court during the preliminary hearing for Schultz and Tim Curley.
McQueary said he wasn't there, and patently didn't remember he testified at that proceeding.
Alleged Victim 7, now age 27, testified his sexual encounters began with Sandusky putting his hand on his knee in the car, then working his hand up his shorts to his groin.
Eventually, Sandusky would take showers with him, sometimes putting the boy, who was about 11 at the time, in a rear bear hug in the shower.
"In the shower he would put his arms around me in a bear hug and squeeze. He would pick me up. It hurt …he was sort of grunting…"
He said Sandusky would lay in bed with him at his home shirtless. He said: "To this day, I'm sort of repulsed by chest hair."
Alleged Victim 5, now 23, testified tearfully about an encounter in the shower with Sandusky when he was 12 or 13: "I felt his body on my back. I had no place else to go. He touched my genitalia. He took my hand and placed it on his."
"It's as I've come to say now, just remarkable how many young children one man can shower with," Tom Kline, attorney for alleged Victim 5, said.
The judge allowed testimony of two janitors about alleged Victim 8, whose identity is unknown. A third janitor suffers with dementia and cannot testify.
If the trial continues this pace, the prosecution could wrap up its case on Friday.
