Tensions Flare At Jordan Brown Trial
NEW CASTLE (KDKA) – Tempers flared during day two of a trial for a boy accused of killing his father's pregnant fiancée.
Jordan Brown was just 11-years-old when police claim he killed 26-year-old Kenzie Houk and her unborn baby.
Brown is now 14-years-old and is being tried as a juvenile.
As they broke for recess this afternoon, Houk's brother-in-law had to be escorted from the courthouse. He had to be calmed down by his own family after exchanging words with Brown's family and sheriff's deputies.
What is particularly stressful for those who can be inside the courtroom to hear the testimony is the testimony itself and the perception of how other families are reacting.
"It's just hard. I have to sit there and watch them and there's absolutely no emotion on any of their faces at all. No matter what's being said you would think they'd have a little emotion. There's none at all," Debbie houk said.
"We're just here to support Jordan because we know he's innocent. We believe in him and we'd like to get through this stage so that they can find the real killer and actually give some justice to baby Christopher and Kenzie. They deserve that and Jordan deserves to be home with his family. We want justice for Kenzie and baby Christopher and we want justice for Jordan. We want Jordan released because we know that Jordan did not do this. Jordan is innocent," Dodi Frankovich said.
Testimony finished Wednesday afternoon. Closing arguments will begin Thursday.
Prosecutor Anthony Krastek says judge has up to seven days to rule. He is not certain if judge will rule from the bench or take several days to decide whether he will remain in juvenile system until he is 21.
