Teen Injured In Sledding Accident In Greenfield
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A teenage boy is recovering from a possible broken leg after a sledding accident along a hillside in Pittsburgh's Greenfield section that's been used by neighborhood kids for generations.
Paramedics relied on the friends of 14-year-old Jimmy Moltz in their efforts to rescue him from the steep slope.
Officials say three teenage boys were sledding when Moltz lost control and became disabled.
One of his friends called 911.
"Me and my friends, we were going sledding like we do every year whenever we get this snow; and there's a little pathway down there, and me and my friend Nick went down first, and then whenever my other friend Jimmy went down, he said that he was hurt," said Khaleb Schindler, Moltz's friend.
Moltz's mother, Rachel, said she was scared for her son, but had praise for the work of Pittsburgh paramedics who methodically got him from the hillside safely.
Paramedic Jeff Vesci says Moltz was taken to Children's Hospital with a possible broken femur.
