Teachers Seek Out Gun Training For Student's Protection
PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) - Teachers in Texas and Ohio are now taking firearms training courses after the tragedy in Connecticut.
The newly-created Buckeye Firearms Association in Ohio offers their participants a three-day training program. Co-founder Gerald Valentino told Reuters news that any licensed teacher choosing to be armed should be allowed.
KDKA Radio's Mike Pintek spoke to Kim Stolfer, the chairman for Firearm Owners Against Crime, about his thoughts on the subject. Many people are concerned that the violence may increase if a teacher has a gun in classroom. While others disagree that in the case of Connecticut, if the principal had been armed, the killings could have been averted.
