Tagianetti: Pens Need To Improve Exiting Their Zone
PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- The Penguins host Game 2 of their first-round series with Columbus Saturday night.
Former defenseman Peter Taglianetti told Bob Pompeani that he's a little concerned with how the Pens break out of their own zone.
"The thing that I worry about is the exiting of their own zone," Taglianetti said. "We have a lot of problems: turnovers at the blue line, turnovers, not getting the puck out of the zone, things like that. Those are the things that are going to cost the Penguins in games."
Taglianetti added that he thinks the Pens need to stay in the middle to have more option on the breakout.
Taglianetti also told Pompeani that the Pens need to control the puck more, and cited possible offside situations as an example of how they could improve puck possession.
"Take it back, regroup in the neutral zone, control the puck for multiple, multiple minutes at a time, and that's just going to wear down the opposition," Taglianetti said.
