PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – There are new details about a 19-month-old baby boy who was rushed to Children's Hospital months ago.
Police say the baby, who was placed on life support after suffering multi-system organ failure, is still recovering. The baby is recovering at Children's Hospital after being treated for what doctors are calling the highest level for acetaminophen in a victim's system.
Lavaughn Moman, 31, who was babysitting the child, was arrested for child endangerment and aggravated assault charges on Tuesday after the October incident. Moman was watching the baby in her home in the 2500 block of Manor Avenue in Swissvale.
Police say Moman strongly denies giving the baby any Tylenol, but according to toxicology tests, the level of medicine in the child's system was equivalent to several bottles of liquid acetaminophen, or several dozen extra strength tablets.
Authorities say for a period of time, the baby and three siblings were left alone in the home. Based on the need for extensive consultation with medical experts and the prosecutor's office, charges were filed just filed on Tuesday.
