Man Taken Into Custody Following SWAT Incident In Arlington Heights
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The SWAT situation lastED a little over an hour on Fernleaf Street in the Arlington Heights neighborhood.
Police had much of their focus on a red brick house.
"I stood here and witnessed the whole thing," said Richard Walker. "To see this here, it's unbelievable."
Richard Walker lives just a few houses away from where a man barricaded himself inside an apartment.
He tells KDKA he first saw a Chevy Malibu crashed into a fence and a man and woman inside arguing.
"Apparently, whatever happened between them two he jumped out the car and ran."
According to the police, the man appeared to be cooperative at first, but while talking to him, they say he suddenly ran inside an apartment building and refused to come out.
Pittsburgh Police then quickly shut down the road and SWAT was called in. They even brought in their K-9 but found no one was else inside the building at the time.
Police say the man eventually surrendered.
Walker says he's happy it ended quickly.
"I'm glad it's over with. Everyone is safe, and the community is safe thanks to them."
Investigators say the man had outstanding warrants. It's unknown at this time if he will be facing any additional charges.
