Suspicious Package In Point State Park Determined To Be 4 Radios

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The all-clear has been given at Point State Park after both Pittsburgh police and the bomb squad were called there early this morning to investigate a report of a suspicious package.

Authorities say the initial call came in around 4 a.m. about a package left on the pedestrian walkway in the park.

When they arrived at the scene, the bomb squad sent in their robot to check out the package. Eventually, one member of the bomb squad – dressed in full gear – examined it as well.

According to authorities, the package was determined to be four radios.

Police say they believe the radios were left behind following a party in the park Thursday night.

The incident forced some closures early this morning, including the portal bridge leading to the Fort Duquesne Bridge. Some inbound traffic was stopped as well.

The roads have since been reopened.

Authorities cleared the scene around 6:30 a.m.
