Suspects Sought In North Side Car Dealership Vandalism
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Windshields and windows were smashed on several vehicles at a North Side car dealership Sunday morning.
While the owner cleans up all the damage police are looking for two suspects and they may have a few leads, considering the acts were caught on camera.
The vandalism happened just before 5 a.m. Sunday J&C's Auto Sales in the 2800-block of Brighton Road.
"I think I'm a good business person down here and I have a good reputation with all the people down here and I don't understand why we're being targeted," owner, Janet Hirt, said.
This is the third time in three years the place has been vandalized with the last occurrence coming in April of 2011.
It won't be cheap to have all these windshields replaced and the cleanup took some time.
"Shop vacs to get all the glass out. I mean, it was from the front to the back of the vehicles, it was just nasty," Hirt, said.
Security cameras all around the building caught two people doing all of the damage. Police now have that video and although it's not crystal clear, it's certainly a start in identifying those two suspects.
In the video, the two suspects come around the corner of the building from an alley. They use baseball bats to bash the windshields and windows over and over again.
"They knew that there were cameras here and they tried to cover their faces and they did what they came to do, I just hope nothing else in this area gets targeted like I did," Hirt, said.
Hirt said she will be upgrading the security system with better equipment and added cameras.
