Suspects Sought After 3 Convenience Store Robberies
Police are looking for suspects after three separate convenience store robberies early Monday morning.
In Stowe Township, the BP near the intersection of Pine Hollow and Heckle Road was held up around 3:30 a.m.
An hour before that, the 7-Eleven on Clever Road in Kennedy Township was robbed.
Around 12:30 a.m., the Sunoco on Noble Avenue in Crafton was also robbed.
"They did show the handgun. They did order the clerks to take the money out of the register. One clerk they actually did drag her back to the register and made her take the money out of the register," Kennedy Township Police Chief Anthony Bruni said.
At least 3 individuals were believed to be involved, but one came to an end in an alley off of 12th Street in Stowe Township.
"A cop car came flying up the alley, slammed on his brakes, got out and started screaming for some guy – I didn't see the guy that was running up the alley – but he was screaming for him to stop," Jared Hall said.
Investigators said the robberies may have been bold and they were poorly thought out because there were too many people involved, too many targets in a short of time period and tons of evidence was left behind.
"We also have a stolen car that was stolen out of McKees Rocks that was involved in the incident. And we also have a gun that was stolen, we believe, from West Virginia," Bruni said. "They took a chance and the more people involved in a crime, the more crimes [they] commit, the better chance we have of catching them."
One juvenile suspect is in custody, while the other two are still on the run.
All three are believed to be from the Kennedy Township area.
