Robberies In Plum, Penn Hills Believed To Be Connected
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Authorities in the eastern suburbs continue to look for a suspect following robberies in Plum and Penn Hills and an attempted robbery in Oakmont this morning.
According to 911 dispatchers, the incidents happened between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.
Emergency officials say the first robbery happened at the Cash & Carry in the 7900-block of Saltsburg Road in Plum. Officials say a young man reached into his pocket as though he had a weapon and demanded cash. The suspect reportedly got away with an undetermined amount of money.
The next reported robbery happened nearly four miles away within 30 minutes at the Sunoco in 200-block of Hulton Road in Penn Hills, but officials say the suspect only got away with a soda there.
In the third incident, emergency officials say the clerk at the KwikFill in the 400-block of Allegheny River Boulevard in Oakmont managed to scare the suspect off before he got away with anything.
Emergency officials describe the suspect as a white male between 17- and 18-years-old, five-feet-six-inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing a dark-colored hoody.
Officials say no weapon was seen in any of the incidents and no injuries have been reported.
Authorities say they are also looking for a blue van with stickers on it that may be involved.
