Suspect Sought Following Uptown SWAT Incident
UPTOWN (KDKA) - Police are looking for a man in connection with a SWAT incident in the Uptown section of Pittsburgh Tuesday morning.
According to police, the incident happened in the 2000-block of De Ruad Street around 8:30 a.m.
According to police, the victim went to the residence looking for someone who allegedly assaulted her niece Monday night.
The man inside the apartment became agitated and threatened to shoot someone while brandishing a firearm.
Police say the man is 27-year-old Neil Joseph Harris of Uptown.
The woman then called 911 and described the firearm as a small machine gun. He was last seen on the roof of 2018 De Ruad Street.
At that time, the SWAT team was called in and eventually made a forced entry into the suspect's apartment. However, a search of the apartment was unsuccessful. The rest of the apartments in the building were checked as well, but the suspect was not found.
Officers also received tips that the suspect was in the Chauncey Street area of the Hill District.
Police announced Tuesday night that they had obtained an arrest warrant for Harris.
He is wanted on multiple charges, including simple assault, terroristic threats, possessing instruments of a crime and disorderly conduct.
Harris is described as 6 feet tall and 180 pounds. He is considered armed and dangerous.
