Suspect Sought After Car Crashes Into Avalon Home

AVALON (KDKA) – Police are looking for a suspect after a vehicle crashed into a house in Avalon early Tuesday morning.

According to police, the crash happened in the 200-block of South Chestnut Street around 4:20 a.m.

An Ohio Township officer heard a car dragging something and attempted to pull the vehicle over. However, the vehicle took off.

The officer elected to not pursue the vehicle, but the driver kept driving at a high rate of speed and eventually crashed into the house.

"Just a loud crash and the car went into the house across the street," Cathy Church, a neighbor, said. "Actually, I saw someone run between the two houses. They just took off."

One individual was caught shortly after the crash while hiding behind the house.

The other individual has not been arrested at this time.

Damage to the house is said to be minimal and no one was hurt in the incident.

As for charges against the driver in this incident, police indicated they could include anything from reckless driving to fleeing and eluding police.
