Man On Motor Scooter Leads Police On Chase
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A man on a motor scooter led police on a dangerous chase on Route 65.
Police say 38-year-old Andrew Donald, of Brookline, tried to direct them into oncoming traffic.
It all started when Pittsburgh police tried to pull him over for not wearing goggles.
"The officer thought he was going to pull over near Marshall Avenue when the scooter did a U-turn and went the wrong direction going inbound on Route 65 against the flow of traffic," Pittsburgh Police Commander RaShall Brackney said.
Heading the wrong way on Route 65, Donald swerved in and out of oncoming traffic.
"Almost caused three head-on collisions," Brackney said.
It turns out that Donald's license is on suspension for a DUI. Now he has even bigger problems – charged with fleeing and eluding police.
"Fleeing and eluding a police officer is a felony offense which is why he was taken into custody," Brackney told KDKA-TV.
Donald is at the Allegheny County Jail awaiting arraignment.
