Suspect In Swissvale Murder Arrested Trying To Swim Across Border In Texas
SWISSVALE (KDKA) -- The man accused in the fatal shooting of his ex-wife's boyfriend last month in Swissvale was taken into custody by U.S. Border Patrol agents while trying to cross the United States-Mexico border in Texas.
According to the U.S. Marshals Service, 27-year-old David Edick was captured in Brownsville, Texas, in the early morning hours of Thursday.
Authorities say University of Texas-Brownsville Campus Police spotted Edick's vehicle in a school parking lot around 3 a.m.
Edick led campus police on a foot chase.
He was then pulled from the Rio Grande River as he tried to swim cross the border into Mexico and taken into custody by U.S. Border Patrol agents.
Police say Edick is accused of breaking into his ex-wife's apartment in Swissvale on Aug. 31, and fatally shooting her live-in boyfriend, 27-year-old Ryan Beal.
He was found at the bottom of a staircase.
The U.S. Marshals' Office says investigators found a revolver after arresting Edick.
He was taken to Cameron County Jail in Brownsville, Texas, while he awaits extradition to Pennsylvania.
