Suspect In Hill District Murder Held For Court
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- At a preliminary hearing today, 29-year-old Nathan Williams, of Mt. Washington, was ordered to stand trial in connection with the brutal murder of a homeless woman and known prostitute.
Police arrested Williams last month, in the August slaying of 57-year-old Elaina Davis.
Police say Williams strangled the woman and left her body in a field in the city's Uptown neighborhood.
He was arrested in November on charges of homicide, rape, deviate sexual intercourse and abuse of a corpse.
Deputy Allegheny County District Attorney Mark Tranquilli says a lucky break led to his arrest.
Investigators say they found DNA on Davis's body, and using a national FBI database, they were able to match it to William's DNA because it was already on file in Allegheny County as a result of his arrest and conviction in a previous crime.
