Suspect Identified In Playground Shooting
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh police have named a suspect in a shooting that critically injured a woman at a playground.
The shooting happened at about 2 p.m. Friday at Allegheny Dwellings in Pittsburgh's Fineview neighborhood. Residents say they heard five gunshots.
Investigators believe the 26-year-old woman was likely not the intended target.
Homicide detectives have identified the suspect as 37-year-old L.G. Wilson. Police plan to charge him with aggravated assault, attempted homicide, reckless endangerment and a firearms violation.
He was last seen wearing all black clothing.
Residents say they're tired of feeling like prisoners in their homes because of all the shootings.
"Every time you turn around at night, they're shooting guns at night, all day long," Cheryl Gainey said. "You're not even allowed to sit outside because other people have taken our territory and not one person helped us about anything. This is constantly every, single day."
Residents say surveillance cameras were supposed to be installed.
"But I still fault them downtown because every place else got their cameras, but we don't have ours up," Cheryl Gainey said.
Anyone with information is asked to call city homicide at 412-323-7161. Callers can remain anonymous.
