Suspect Held For Trial In Connection With Wilkinsburg Home Invasion
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- One of the suspects facing charges in a violent home invasion in Wilkinsburg will stand trial.
Jeremy Whittington surrendered to Allegheny County Police on April 24 in connection with the home invasion on Montier Street.
He's accused of being the accomplice who ran away from the scene after the homeowner reportedly shot the other suspect.
After hearing testimony from the homeowner who fired at the intruder, District Judge Kim Hoots ordered Whittington held for trial on robbery and conspiracy charges.
KDKA's Harold Hayes reports from court that Whittington told reporters, "I was in the wrong place at the wrong time" as he arrived at a district justice office for a court appearance.
His mother also proclaimed her son's innocence to reporters.
The other suspect, 18-year-old Jabar Owens, of Penn Hills, was critically wounded in the incident. He was expected to face charges of robbery and weapons violations.
