Suspect Gets Away With $800 After Robbing Whitaker Bar
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police are looking for the person who robbed a Whitaker bar at gun point.
The robbery occurred Thursday night at the Happy Hour Saloon on Schwab Avenue.
Bar owner Lori Williams says a female bartender heard a noise at the back door and thought someone was trying to come in.
The bartender went to the door and the suspect rushed into the bar. The suspect ordered the bartender to kneel by the ice machine in front of the kitchen.
Williams says the suspect threatened her employee not to move or call police and pulled a gun on her. The employee told Williams the suspect pulled the gun back twice, but it failed to shoot.
The suspect ran into the kitchen and stole two bags of money and got away with about $800.
The suspect was wearing a blue-green hoodie and a t-shirt to cover his face.
Williams told KDKA's Bob Allen: "I do have very nice customers that come in, but there's always a bad apple. I don't care where you go, there's always a bad apple."
The entire robbery was captured on a video surveillance tape. Williams and police hope it will help lead them to the suspect.
