Surveillance Camera Catches Man & Woman Burglarizing Campground
NEW STANTON (KDKA) -- State police are trying to identify two people caught on surveillance tape burglarizing a Westmoreland County campground.
The incident happened around 5 a.m. Thursday at Fox Den Acres in New Stanton.
A young man and woman, appearing to be in their late-teens or early-20's, got into the Trading Post by cutting a lock on the front door.
Once inside, they take their time looking around, even inspecting the surveillance camera that is recording their every move.
"They know there's a camera," said Trooper Steve Limani, of Pennsylvania State Police. "They approach the camera; they actually touch the camera and leave the camera play while they're in there committing this burglary."
The pair was not wearing masks or gloves.
They got away with around $300 from the register, but did not damage a priceless wildlife collection belonging to the owner's grandfather.
"A lot of the stuff that's in here is irreplaceable," said Steve Dansak, of Fox Den Acres. "It's also not something you can just take out and sell on the street quickly. It's going to pop up somewhere and they're going to know where it came from."
