Super Bowl-Bound 49er's Punter Andy Lee Talks About Nerves, Preparing For Game
PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) -- San Francisco 49er and former Pitt Punter Andy Lee joined Starkey and Miller with Chris Mueller on Sports Radio 93-7 The FAN to talk about playing in his first Super Bowl.
The nerves aren't there yet according to Andy because he said he's been making all the plans for his family to get to New Orleans for the game, and hasn't really had a chance to think about. Now that those plans are set though, Lee said he's getting ready to treat it just like any other Sunday.
If the opportunity presents itself to pull the trigger on a fake punt in the Super Bowl, Andy said he absolutely won't hesitate to gain the national spotlight and make a run for it.
We also talked with Andy about what it will be like holding for field goal attempts, and what frame of mind kicker David Akers is in right now after the shaky season he has had.
We wrapped things up with Andy asking him how the decision to replace then starting quarterback Alex Smith with backup Colin Kaepernick was received in the locker room.
